REACH

Regulation No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). Valid from 1 June 2007 and applies to the safe use of chemicals manufactured or imported (from outside the EU) in quantities greater than 1 ton per year.

REACH regulation imposes on the manufacturers and importers of chemicals a number of obligations related to the production, marketing and use of a substance as is, as a preparation ingredient or present in the product. The Regulation also imposes obligations on Further Users of chemical substances and mixtures. According to the regulation, Further User has the right to provide a written information on the use of the substance in their professional activity (Article 37. of the REACH Regulation). This information will allow for the Assessment and the Chemical Safety Report, and the implementation of risk control measures through relevant Exposure Scenarios for the particular substance. Exposure Scenarios at a later stage will be attached to the Safety Data Sheet.

Full text of the REACH Regulation can be downloaded, for example, from the National Information Centre for REACH website
